Getting started
Is Bastion free?
Yes. Anti-nuke, anti-raid, automod, the join gate, verification, moderation and logs are all free. Bastion Pro adds backups, panic mode and custom tuning for $3.99 a month per server.
How long does setup take?
About three minutes. Add the bot, drag its role to the top of your role list, run /setup and pick a security level. Every setting has a plain-English explanation next to it. The getting started guide walks through it.
Which security level should I pick?
Balanced, unless you have a reason not to. Relaxed suits busy, chatty servers where people post fast. Strict suits servers that are being attacked. The level is a starting point, and you can change any single setting afterwards. The setup guide compares all three.
Who can change Bastion's settings?
The server owner, plus anyone the owner adds as a trusted person. Anyone with Administrator or Manage Server can open the dashboard, but they see the protection pages read-only. They can still change Automod and most of Moderation.
Safety and permissions
Will it punish my normal members?
No. Normal chatting never comes close to setting anything off. On the Balanced level, someone sending a message every three seconds never goes above 12 heat out of 100. You can also tell Bastion to skip certain roles and channels.
Will Bastion ever ask me to scan a QR code?
Never. Verification happens inside your server with a button. Any bot that DMs you a QR code or a link is trying to steal accounts.
Does Bastion need the Administrator permission?
No. It asks for 14 named permissions and each one maps to a job it does, so you can see what it's able to do in your server. The permissions page lists every one and why.
Why does Bastion's role have to be at the top?
Discord only lets a bot act on members whose highest role is below the bot's own. If an admin role sits above Bastion, Bastion can't stop anyone holding it. Dragging the role to the top is the most important step in setup.
What happens to someone Bastion catches?
By default they're put in quarantine. That removes all their roles and saves them, so /quarantine remove puts everything back if it was a mistake. A bot can't be quarantined, so a bot that goes over a limit is kicked. Spammers get a timeout.
Can Bastion punish the server owner?
No. The owner is always trusted and is never punished. The owner can add other trusted people, who skip the limits too. Keep that list short, because Bastion won't stop a trusted account that gets hacked.
Can I use it alongside my other bots?
Yes. Bastion leaves other bots alone unless one starts doing damage, like deleting lots of channels in a minute. Two things to know: don't run two anti-nuke bots at once, and a busy ticket bot may need its limits raised. Both are covered in troubleshooting.
Pricing
What does Pro add?
Backups with one-command restore, panic mode with automatic recovery after a nuke, message edit and delete logs, the server changes log, custom heat tuning and a few advanced controls. It costs $3.99 a month or $39 a year. The Pro page has the full list.
Is Pro per server or per account?
Per server. One subscription upgrades one server, and everyone who manages that server gets the Pro features there. If you run several servers, add Pro to each one you want it on. Payment is handled by Stripe, and Bastion never sees your card number.
Is there a launch offer?
Yes. On the monthly plan, a server that hasn't had Pro before gets 75% off its first 3 months: $1 a month, then $3.99. The checkout shows both prices before you pay. Yearly is $39 a year.
Can I get Pro without paying?
Yes. Vote for Bastion on top.gg from the Free Premium page in the dashboard. Every 30 votes gives one server you manage 14 days of Pro, you can vote every 12 hours, and you can keep earning for as long as you like. Voting is optional. The Free Premium guide has the rules.
Can I cancel Pro?
Yes, from your Billing page in the dashboard, at any time, in a few clicks. You may be offered a free month or a one-month pause on the way, and you can say no. Pro stays active until the end of the period you already paid for, and you can undo the cancellation before then. After that the server goes back to the free plan and the Pro features switch themselves off. Only the person who bought Pro for that server can change or cancel it. The core protection is free and stays free.
Compared with Wick
How is Bastion different from Wick?
Both protect a server against nukes, raids and spam. Bastion is newer and is built to be quick to understand: one command, a short wizard, and a plain-English explanation next to every setting. The comparison page shows what's free and what's paid on each, side by side.
When is Wick the better choice?
If you want a bot with a long track record, if you run many servers and want one plan to cover them, if your staff like prefix commands, or if you want to write your own appeal questions. The comparison page says so plainly.
Can I move from Wick without leaving a gap?
Yes. Set Bastion up fully first, then switch off the old bot's protection, then remove it. Don't leave two anti-nuke bots running together, because each can mistake the other for an attacker. Settings can't be imported, but picking a security level sets everything in one step. See migrating.
Privacy and data
Does Bastion keep what my members write?
No. Bastion reads each message to score it for spam, but what people write in chat isn't saved to its database. The full list of what is and isn't stored is in privacy and data and the privacy policy.
Does Bastion see my Discord password?
No. Bastion has no sign-in page or password of its own. You sign in on discord.com, so check the address bar says discord.com before you approve anything. The privacy policy has the details of what sign-in shares.
What is the shared raid list?
A list of accounts removed in raids, shared between servers that choose to join it. It's off until you switch it on under Anti-Raid. It holds an account ID and two dates, names no server, and each entry goes 30 days after the account was last seen in a raid. See the shared raid list.
Does Bastion send images to an AI?
Only on a Pro server that has switched on the AI check for scam images. Then the first picture a new member posts goes to Anthropic, with no message text, name or ID, and the picture itself is never kept. Bastion keeps only a fingerprint of it, so the same picture isn't checked twice. It's off by default.
How do I get my data deleted?
Remove the bot from your server and its data is erased automatically 30 days later, or sooner if the owner emails support@bastionbot.xyz. To download or delete your own account, open Account and privacy. The privacy and data page explains what's kept, and the privacy policy has the rest.
Troubleshooting
Bastion isn't doing anything. What do I check?
Run /status first. Nine problems in ten are one of two things: Bastion's role isn't at the top of the role list, or it's missing a permission. /status tells you which. A quiet server also gives it nothing to do.
Why can't I see Bastion's commands?
New slash commands can take a moment to appear after an invite, so close Discord fully and open it again. /setup and /status are only shown to people with Manage Server. If they never appear, use the invite link once more. Your settings are kept.
Why did Bastion kick my bot?
There are two causes. The Join Gate removes bots added by anyone who isn't the owner or a trusted person, so have the owner invite it. Or the bot went over an Anti-Nuke limit while working, which ticket bots often do. Troubleshooting has the fix for each.
Bastion punished someone by mistake. How do I undo it?
Check the log channel, or run /cases on them, to see the reason. Then undo it with /untimeout, /unban or /quarantine remove. If it keeps happening, move to the Relaxed level or switch off the one filter that keeps firing. Still stuck? Email support@bastionbot.xyz with your server ID.
